"Orange is the New Black" season 2 premiere date news still speculates the prison series will grace the streaming service with its presence come 2014. The show is currently midway through production in New York City. If the first season release is any indicator of when viewers will see the return of the Litchfield Penitentiary inmates, "Orange is the New Black" season 2 will likely hit the streaming service summer 2014. While we anxiously await word from Netflix, let's look at what we do know about the upcoming "OITNB" season.

The "Orange is the New Black" season 2 cast will remain fairly unchanged, with the exception of a reportedly short-lived Alex Vause storyline. Laura Prepon's departure means little screen time (just one episode) for the fan favorite international drug smuggling entrepreneur turned fellow inmate. It seems all is balanced in the "OITNB" universe, though, seeing as new faces are being introduced to season 2.

"Orange is the New Black" season 2 cast members welcome "The Wire" actress Deirdre Lovejoy. Spoilers reveal Lovejoy will portray a prison therapist named Chris Maser. The "OITNB" newbie will exhibit a "calm demeanor and is confident enough in her abilities to go toe-to-toe with the hellacious Healy." The casting is confirmed on Lovejoy's website, where the actress shared the news along with her "OITNB" actor chair. Deirdre Lovejoy also posted a photo with Taylor Schilling (Piper Chapman) on Twitter.

While there's no doubt Lovejoy is joining the "Orange is the New Black" cast, there are less official rumors indicating another potential new face. Creator Jenji Kohan brought in talent from her long-running Showtime series "Weeds", which include Pablo Schreiber ("Pornstache") and Michael Harney (Healy). "Weeds" alum Justin Kirk recently revealed that it's not a total impossibility for him to pop up in the prison series.

"I actually just saw Jenji at Kevin Nealon's 60th birthday party. He threw this crazy party with like the world's foremost Beatles tribute band playing. It was insane. There were probably more 'Weeds' people there than I've seen since 'Weeds ended'. 'Orange is the New Black' has a bunch of our people on it, so you never know. It could happen," Kirk told Parade.

Justin Kirk admitted that he had binge-watched the first season of "Orange is the New Black" in his hotel room while he was shooting an episode of "The Blacklist" in New York. "It was great. I really liked it a lot," Kirk said. Enough to join the cast? It's far-reaching, but not out of the question. The "Orange is the New Black" season 2 premiere date is predictably coming sometime next year.
